Today I received the following message from Chris, 'a participating retailer:'

What people don't realize is that the dealership(s) were taken advantage of as well. Each transaction cost the retailer a percentage of money. So Before you go making the retailers the bad guy, be advised that is cost the retailer alot of money as well. Lucky for the consumers that it did not cost you a dime to participate.

Well, Chris and disagree on some key points, but I appreciate the feedback!

Chris, are you kidding me? You are correct, it did not cost us a dime...it cost us hundreds by overpaying for a product in hopes of a rebate. You chose to do business with CBA, we did not. What happened to taking care of the customer?

Chris is right - As a retailer it did cost them for each transaction. But one company I of for sure did NOT raise their prices to cover the difference. In fact, they still ran some specials and gave discounts as well. Alot of retailers were really taken unfair advantage of. I think you should do a little more research into BOTH sides of the story. Cashback America was handled very badly - But all retailers are not the bad guy.

Many of us have been "taken". What is an additional disappointment is that our dealers didn't take the time to tell us in advance of all the hoops we had to jump through to comply with this fraud. We had to wait for the returned registered mail to learn we had been taken once again. So rightly or wrongly, I say shame on our dealers. They should be viewed with deep suspicion in the future.

I too was suckered into this fraudulent rebate scheme by Fremont Motors in Lander, Riverton, Wyoming. I have complied with all the requirements of this rebate that Fremont Motors was promoting in July 2004 to sell vehicles. I am totally disgusted with this scheme by local business people to take advantage of folks in their communities. What a fraud! I feel Fremont Motors has an obligation to their customers to make sure the rebates they are promising are legitimate.
