I recently received two comments regarding Mr. Roof in Ann Arbor, MI.

The first is as follows:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mr. Roof in Ann Arbor, MI, is attempting to help out their customers by providing a payment of $1,000.00 to those of us victimized by CBA. Contact Mr. Roof ASAP.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The second is as follows:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since I do not see any feed back here on Mr. Roof in Ann Arbor Michigan, I wanted to start a thread so that the hundreds of other victims of Mr. Roof’s rebate scam in the metropolitan area could add their comments and complaints. I have contacted Mr. Roof, and their office manager, Christina, states they too have lost money and consumer confidence, but as I see it… too freaking bad – I am now out $6,000 for an overpriced roof – that leaked. Mr. Roof, as with all the other culprits, made sales based off of the CashBack promotion advertised in the 2002-2003 time frame – and these rebates are now due. However, CashBack is not defunct, out of business and we are left holding the bag. Like all others, Mr. Roof, say they didn't know of scam and CashBack was originally recommended by the Florida AG. However, Cashback has been under Florida BBB scrutiny since 2000 so I find that very interesting.

In the end, Mr. Roof, the retailer, promoted their product via a rebate, should be held legally responsible for their third party failure. In my case, I was never told that the rebate would come via CashBack America – only that I needed to be living in my home 45 months later and I would get the full rebate. Not until did I get the rebate form from Mr. Roof did I uncover this swindle. Mr. Roof contacted with CashBack to provide the rebate. As with any other business, the primary business supplier should be held accountable for suppliers - period.

I encourage all victims of Mr. Roofs scam to contact them directly, contact the Michigan Attorney General, our Representatives and any local TV stations to run a ‘rescue’ story.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I do not have anything to add to the comments.  I just thought they were worth noting.

I was also scammed by Cashback America in Ann Arbor. I did the Mr. Roof rebate based partially on the large (3,000) rebate. I had very vague and misleading instructions as to how to redeem the rebate. I did everything perfectly sending in everything required register mail. I still have copies of everything. The problem is the wording absolutely can be interpreted in more than one way so Cashback obviously said my interpretation was wrong and that I missed out on the three grand by one day. I had several mail exchanges and brought Florida Better Business into it. They basically dropped the ball on me. The main person at Cashback told BB I basically couldn't handle the truth.

I guess I'm not the only one who got duped into the now defunct Cashback scam.
Last October I mailed them a certifified letter of my rebate form which included proof of purchase, utiltity bill as proof of residency, etc.. I was not too surprised to see the letter being returned due to 'Invalid Address'.

Mr. Roof is a cheating company.
They hire illigel immigrants, pay 6$ perhour while charging $60 for their customers. Some body should caught them and let them go bankrupcy

My name is Steve Weyl, president of Mr Roof and I invite all inquiries - just call me at 1-800-4MR-ROOF. The truth of the matter is that we were also duped by Cashback America. They sold us a program where we could give our customers an added incentive to buy by giving them a "savings bond". We paid approximately 40% of the face value of the bond directly to Cash Back America then Cash Back America issued the bond to our customers in hopes that the bond would have a future value greater than the face value at time of redemption. They went bancrupt and the bonds were then deemed uncollectable. As a matter of customer goodwill, not as a matter of legal obligation- as Mr Roof did not have a legal obligation to do anything, we set up a fund where victims of Cash Back America could get some relief. Not including the initial fees charged to us by Cash Back America, we placed approximately $100,000 in that fund. Their program was very costly for us and we are sorry our customers did not get the full value of the bond promised by Cash Back America. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but now we have all seen what can happen to "too good to be true" investments vehicles.

Sincerley,

Steve Weyl , Mr Roof President 1-800-4MR-ROOF
